Lessons of Darkness
Style: Rauchbier
Deep amber with a dense cream head. Beechwood-smoked malt from Schlenkerla gives it that unmistakable bacon-and-campfire character. Full-bodied, malty, and surprisingly drinkable.
Batch
Batch 003
Brewed — 4.5%
Markers: tart, citrus, sparkling
Hops: Hallertau
Malt: Wheat, Pilsner
First run. Pale and brilliantly clear, with a sharp, refreshing acidity. The white beer of Hanover, brewed since 1526. Lemon zest and green apple on a crisp, spritzy body.
Batch 002
Brewed — 5.3%
Markers: smoky, bacon, smooth
Hops: Hallertau Tradition
Malt: Beechwood-Smoked, Munich, Pilsner, Caramunich
Added a touch of Caramunich for more depth. Smoke is a little softer this batch — more ham than bacon. Creamy mouthfeel, clean lager finish.
Batch 001
Brewed — 5.5%
Markers: smoky, bacon, campfire
Hops: Hallertau Tradition
Malt: Beechwood-Smoked, Munich, Pilsner
Our first Rauchbier. Sourced Schlenkerla smoked malt direct from Bamberg. Rich bacon and campfire smoke, balanced by a soft Munich malt backbone. Bold but not aggressive.
